It’s been a month since Oklahoma schools implemented a new law banning cellphones from bell to bell, and the lawmaker behind the measure says she’s hearing positive feedback about its impact in classrooms across the state.

“After a couple of weeks, it’s just the new norm,” said Sen. Ally Seifried, R-Claremore. “I think it’s something that we can see benefits for our students really, really quickly.”

Seifried said she worked on the law for two years and is now seeing it in action.

“I could have never anticipated how successful this was going to be,” she said.

Before the law took effect, Seifried said she was cautiously optimistic.

“I did prep myself, I thought August would be a difficult month,” she said.
