Right-handed pitcher Maikel Miralles threw 6 2/3 scoreless innings to help the TinCaps beat the West Michigan Whitecaps 6-1 in front of 6,594 fans at LMCU Ballpark in Comstock Park, Michigan.

Miralles (1-1) gave up five hits without a walk to go with six strikeouts as the TinCaps (56-73, 25-39 second half) snapped a nine-game losing streak.

Kasen Wells had an RBI single in the third to open scoring. Jonathan Vastine made it 5-0 shortly after with the TinCaps' first grand slam since May 11 by Braedon Karpathios.

Luke Cantwell, called up from Low-A Lake Elsinore on Tuesday, hit a solo home run in the fifth to make it 6-0. He and Wells both had two hits.

The TinCaps enter the final weekend of the season with two more games against the Whitecaps, the first coming at 7:05 p.m. Saturday.
