With initiatives such as mapping the accessibility of the city’s tourist attractions, raising awareness of resources for sexual assault victims, and building support for faculty and students at a local elementary school, emerging leaders have been working hard this year on projects to benefit nonprofits in Allen County.

I have had the privilege to be one of more than 60 people working on such community action projects through the intensive Leadership Fort Wayne program, organized by Greater Fort Wayne Inc.

Started in 1983, the program trains participants not only on how to be better leaders within their companies, but also within the community. In addition to eight program days where we learn about leadership skills and community engagement, each participant is assigned to a project that
