A 19-year-old who fatally shot a man in 2023 who was apparently asleep aboard a Metro bus going from Burien to White Center was sentenced Friday to 23 years and 4 months in prison.

Miguel Dominguez, the Burien man who was 17 at the time of the shooting, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in July for the death of 21-year-old Marcel Wagner.

Onboard video footage showed Dominguez and Wagner sitting for 12 minutes on the H line bus as it traveled from Burien to White Center. Wagner, who appeared to be sleeping, sat on one end of a bench, and Dominguez sat on the other end. As the bus reached a stop, Dominguez pulled out a gun and fired at Wagner “without uttering a single word,” according to charging documents. Wagner died at the scene.
