WRENSHALL, Minn. (Northern News Now) - An 11-year-old Wrenshall girl was fighting for her life Friday night after being struck by a pickup truck while riding her bike.

It happened around 5:10 p.m. Friday on Broadway Street in Wrenshall.

According to the Carlton County Sheriff’s Office, an 11-year-old girl was riding her bike when she was struck by a pickup in the roadway.

An off-duty Cloquet Police officer witnessed the crash, called 911 and immediately began helping the girl.

Multiple agencies responded and began life-saving measures.

The girl was ultimately airlifted to Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis with severe injuries.

Her condition is unknown.

Authorities say the driver of the truck is a 49-year-old man from South Carolina.
