DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now) - It was a chilly night for a scenic, special run in Duluth, but that didn’t stop hundreds from traveling a mile on foot.
The Minnesota Mile is organized by the Young Athletes Foundation (YAF), which raises funds for local youth athletics.
The race takes participants on a mile loop through Enger Park, featuring many heats divided by ages and skill levels.
The Minnesota Mile’s first year as an event was 1991.
“It was super fun to run the mile with my son and come back to run the competitive,” said Caitlin Braithwaite before her son said. “That’s me, mommy!”
Since 1990, YAF has contributed more than $1.8 million of community support through our grant program, running shoe program, and scholarships.
