LOGAN – The 2025-26 season of the Theatre Arts Department at Utah State University will open with play readings of Poor Clare, directed by USU assistant professor Amanda Dawson.
The low-key presentations of the 2022 comedy by award-winning playwright Chiara Atik will be held in the Black Box Theatre at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 12 and Saturday, Sept. 13.
Ms. Atik’s play puts a deliberately anachronistic, hilarious and poignantly modern spin on the medieval story of the relationship between St. Clare and St. Francis of Assisi.
The author playfully inserts modern vernacular into the medieval time period of Poor Clare , illustrating that the petty concerns of that day – gossip about boys and fashions – weren’t so different from our own.
