A knife-wielding woman arrested after a SWAT team was called in response to a family disturbance in the Westlake district was identified Friday.
Officers responded at approximately 8:20 a.m. Thursday to the 300 block of South Lafayette Park Place, between Hoover and Alvarado streets, following a call about an assault with a deadly weapon suspect, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The suspect, identified Friday as Julian Douglas, was observed by officers standing in the apartment courtyard, armed with a butcher knife and with blood on her hands, police said.
The officers gave several commands for Douglas to drop the weapon, but she refused and entered a nearby residence and barricaded herself in a closet with the knife, police said.
