Former President Joe Biden recently underwent surgery to remove skin cancer lesions from his head, his spokesperson Kelly Scully said Thursday.
Scully confirmed the surgery after a video was published by Inside Edition showing Biden with a scar on his forehead while leaving a church service in Delaware, AP reports. She did not confirm when the procedure took place.
Biden, 82, underwent Mohs surgery, which is a common outpatient procedure to remove high-risk skin cancer while preserving healthy tissue, according to the Cleveland Clinic . Mohs surgery has a cure rate of up to 99%, the lowest recurrence rate of any other skin cancer treatment, per the Clinic.
