Branded a rock supergroup, Emerson Lake & Palmer (ELP) was formed in 1970 in London by three musicians already famous from previous bands — Keith Emerson, of The Nice, on keyboards, Greg Lake, of King Crimson, on vocals, bass, and guitar, and Carl Palmer, of Atomic Rooster, on drums and percussion.
