NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — For the first time ever more than a half-million passengers took off in July from Norfolk International Airport, and while the Airport Authority is on cloud nine, some taxi drivers say they've been literally cast aside.
"Well, right now it's, not good at all," said Nikia Grant, whose family owns Waterside Taxi. "They've recently moved all the taxi drivers from the actual taxi stand all the way to almost leaving the airport. So now when customers come out to get a taxi, they have to actually. Well, the taxi can't. The taxi stand still says taxis right here. But instead of taxis being there, there's Uber and Lyft. So I'll call Ten on Your Side because I need somebody on our side right now.
