MOORHEAD — Now an empty building, the Moorhead Center Mall created a challenging real estate situation for the city of Moorhead as it obtained all the rights to the mall and surrounding land.
The Moorhead Center Mall’s last tenant has set up elsewhere, clearing the way for the last part of the 1970s-era mall to be demolished. Barber Bob Grantham was the final tenant after nearly five decades in the mall. He moved across the street to the former U.S. Bank building, also called the FM Building.
A downtown redevelopment project is underway in the mall’s footprint. Much of the mall has been demolished, with construction ongoing nearby on a new community center and library building, as well as a mixed-use business and residential building. The future streets of a new downtown are beginning
