The road to the 2026 World Cup in the U.S., Canada and Mexico continues on Saturday, Sept. 6 with seven qualifiers, six in Europe and one in Africa.
The most notable squads in action are 2024 European championships runner-up England and Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal. Ronaldo is aiming to become the first (or among the first if Lionel Messi also plays) to compete in six different World Cups. Saturday's match against Armenia will be the first for Portugal in its qualifying campaign.
England, which hosts Andorra on Saturday (12 p.m. on FS2), already has played three World Cup qualifiers and has won all three, collecting six goals and allowing none.
So far, no team from Europe and only one from Africa has secured a spot in the 2026 World Cup.
