CHICAGO (WLS) -- An injured Chicago police officer fatally shot a burglary suspect on the city's West Side early Saturday morning, CPD said.
Police said a group of suspects allegedly burglarized a vehicle in the 5500-block of West Thomas Street before getting in a dark-colored sedan and fleeing southbound on North Waller Avenue.

Responding officers encountered the sedan near Chicago and Waller avenues around 3:45 a.m. The sedan hit two marked CPD vehicles, pinning an officer who then fired shots, striking one of the suspects.
The injured suspect was transported to Stroger Hospital, where they were pronounced dead. Their identity was not immediately released.
