MEMPHIS, Tenn. - If you have a coworker who didn't show up for work on Thursday, there may be a good reason.
Someone in Memphis woke up $100,000 richer Thursday morning. Officials with the Tennessee Lottery said a winning Powerball ticket was sold at the Quince Food Mart on Quince Road.
That ticket matched four numbers plus the Powerball. The player added a Power Play to their ticket, doubling what would have been a $50,000 windfall.
The ticket was one of eight winning Powerball tickets sold in Tennessee. Another player won $100,000, and six people won $50,000, but all fell short of the jackpot, which rose to $1.7 billion on Thursday.
