SPRING LAKE, MI - The library in Spring Lake is gearing up for an expansion.

A new community room is the bulk of the expansion to the Spring Lake District Library located at 123 E. Exchange St.

The site plan was approved on Aug. 21 by the Village of Spring Lake Planning Commission.

The library is now seeking contractors to construct a 1,200 square-foot addition on the southeast side of the building for a “community flex space.”

“We’re looking forward to seeing construction kick-off this fall, with the project to be completed by next summer,” said Maggie McKeithan, library director.

The new space will fit 25 to 40 people and will host more adult, and specifically senior, programs like classes, lectures, crafts and activities. The space will be available for community group bookings.
