NEW YORK (PIX11) -- A hazardous weather outlook was issued for New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut on Saturday as the National Weather Service warns of severe storms in the area.

Showers and thunderstorms as well as damaging wind gusts, an isolated tornado and hail, are possible in the tri-state between 12 p.m. and 8 p.m., forecasters say.

Heavy rain is also expected to bring flash flooding to streets, subways and low-lying areas, according to the New York City Emergency Management.

Residents are advised to clear catch basins in their area and bring in any loose outdoor items. Officials from the OEM also warn residents to stay indoors during a storm and delay travel is possible.
