Massachusetts is bracing for a day of severe weather on Saturday, with a potent mix of thunderstorms heavy downpours, lightning and the possibility of a tornado.

“A warm and humid day is on tap” for Saturday, according to the National Weather Service, with temperatures in the low to mid-80s which will set the stage for a stormy afternoon and evening.

This warm, humid air will collide with the colder dryer airmass heading towards the state, creating the chance for scattered thunderstorms.

The storms are expected to be at its strongest in areas farther inland, particularly in Central and Western Massachusetts.
