Residents are objecting to proposals to convert a former greeting cards shop in Normanby into a restaurant and takeaway. The vacant retail unit in the High Street subject to the application formerly housed Jubilees, a greeting cards business run by local businessman Kenny Surtees until his death in 2023.
According to plans submitted to Redcar and Cleveland Council , applicant Raman Amiri, of Netherfields, Middlesbrough , is seeking a change of use to a restaurant and hot food takeaway. As of September 4, more than 20 submissions have been received by the local planning authority largely objecting to the plans.
