Strong thunderstorms with heavy rain and gusty winds are expected to move across Maine on Saturday, according to the National Weather Service in Caribou.
As a weather front pushes through, storms are most likely in southwestern areas, with the heaviest rain in the western highlands. The system is forecast to track northeast across central and eastern Maine.
Showers and thunderstorms will increase during the afternoon, with some storms possibly strong to severe into the early evening.
Damaging winds are expected to be the main hazard, but hail and torrential downpours are also possible, according to the weather service.
More rain is likely in Down East Maine on Sunday morning. Northern areas will be partly sunny with highs in the mid-60s.
Monday is expected to be mostly sunny and co
