MADISON, Wis. — In our final story in our back-to-school series, we're highlighting some of Madison's teachers who are new to the world of education themselves.

First-year teacher Tara Hoff will be teaching construction and woodworking at East High School, but is looking to build something stronger with her new students.

“Trust,” Hoff said.

“We're going to make something happen, and each road, each path might be a little different. But if you trust me, we're going to have some fun and we're going to learn some things,” she said.

Ms. Hoff has taken a few different paths herself.

She's an independent contractor who coached all ages of baseball and softball. The East High assistant principal asked her to fill in for a retired teacher.
