The weather in Ireland can be "very variable" in September during the transition from summer to autumn patterns, according to Paul Moore, a climatologist with Met Éireann. For Dublin in particular, the proximity to the Irish Sea keeps the climate fairly mild throughout the year. The capital city is often shielded from heavy rains and stronger winds.

Moore says Dublin's average high and low temperatures in late September are 16 degrees Celsius (61 degrees Fahrenheit) and 9 degrees Celsius (49 degrees Fahrenheit), respectively.
