Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr reportedly used Manchester United great Cristiano Ronaldo to try and convince Bruno Fernandes to join them this summer.
United captain Fernandes, 30, was a player in-demand during the summer transfer window, with Al-Hilal pushing hard to sign the Portuguese international before the Club World Cup . MEN Sport understands that the midfielder gave serious consideration to that transfer, but ultimately decided to stay at Old Trafford .
Ruben Amorim is believed to have spoken to Fernandes and urged him not to leave. That encouragement to stay ultimately forced Al-Hilal to move on to other targets.
