EastEnders actor Jamie Borthwick will not be returning to the hit BBC One soap after 19 years.
The 31-year-old, amongst the programme's longest-serving performers, was informed his Albert Square journey had reached its conclusion.
BBC Studios, which makes the soap, told the Mirror : "We can confirm that Jamie Borthwick will not be returning to EastEnders. We do not comment on individual matters."
The actor, who portrays Jay Brown, was spotted "looking downcast this week", it is understood he was only told in recent days of the bosses' decision, reports the Mirror.
This follows his suspension in June after using a derogatory term for disabled individuals to describe Blackpool locals whilst recording Strictly in the coastal resort.
