The National Weather Service issued a report at 2:24 p.m. on Saturday for strong thunderstorms until 3:15 p.m. for Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties.
Residents may experience wind gusts of up to 40 mph.
"At 2:23 p.m., Doppler radar tracked a strong thunderstorm over Monsey, moving northeast at 35 mph," according to the weather service. "Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects."
Locations impacted by the alert include New City, Peekskill, Monsey, Haverstraw, Mahopac, Lake Carmel, Brewster, Carmel, Pomona, Yorktown Heights, Spring Valley, Stony Point, Jefferson Valley, Putnam Valley and West Haverstraw.
