Thousands of Muslims Sing in a Trace-Like State to Celebrate the Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday

Muslims of the Layene Sufi brotherhood gathered dressed in white to celebrate Mawlid, the birthday of Islamic Prophet Muhammad. Thousands sang and moved in unison at the seaside mausoleum of their founder, Seydina Limamou Laye. The annual celebration takes place in Dakar, Senegal.
