LONGVIEW, Wash. — A man is dead, and a child was hospitalized with serious injuries after a motorcycle and car collision Thursday night.

Around 6:33 p.m., Longview police responded to the intersection of Tennant Way and 9th Avenue, where they found a car and a motorcycle significantly damaged by the collision, with the motorcycle on fire.

The motorcyclist, a 22-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity will be revealed after the family is notified by the Cowlitz County Coroner’s Office.

A 5-year-old passenger in the car was transported to St. John Medical Center, then flown to Doernbecher Children’s Hospital for with serious injuries; the child's current condition is unknown at this time. The Longview Police Department said it will not release the identity of the chil
