LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - Hundreds of people laced up their running shoes early this morning for a good cause.

On Saturday, September 6, the Area Health Education Center (AHEC) hosted its annual 5K run and mental health wellness fair at North Central Park.

According to AHEC, over 300 people participated to raise awareness and show support for those struggling with mental health.

Mental health resources were available to those who attended.

AHEC helps communities by providing resources and healthy lifestyles through educational programs.
