An ongoing debate on Belleville city council about the merits of automated speed cameras operating in the city took an interesting turn on Saturday.

Coun. Kelly Henderson, who has led a push to eliminate existing municipal cameras in the city save in school zones, is offering Belleville motorists with paid speeding ticket fines a 10 per cent discount on their next meal at her Quinte Restaurant.

Patrons only need show a paid ticket receipt to receive what she calls the “Speeder’s Special,” she posted on Facebook on the weekend.
