Democratic mayoral nominee Zohran Mamdani took the stage alongside Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders at a Brooklyn town hall on Saturday as part of the latter’s “Fighting Oligarchy” tour.

Sanders’ progressive support comes amid a schism over the Democratic Party’s direction following its total defeat last year. More moderate Democratic leaders, including New York Gov. Kathy Hochul as well as House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, both Brooklynites, have yet to endorse Mamdani following his primary victory.
