MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Tennessee classrooms will look different this fall.

A new state law requires every student from kindergarten through high school to learn lessons on gun safety. Memphis-Shelby County Schools (MSCS) says it is ready to roll out the curriculum in September.

Some parents say the classroom is not the place for this conversation.

"I feel like that gun safety, introducing a child to a gun, should be a decision of the family," parent Sharika Carpenter said.

Carpenter said she also believes other priorities should come first. "There are so many other things that could help them or benefit them that should be mandatory," she added.

Others, however, welcome the new lessons.
