MARSHALL, Minn. — Jack Strand threw five touchdown passes and 319 yards in the first half as Minnesota State Moorhead dominated Southwest Minnesota State 51-3 on Saturday night in the Dragons’ Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference opener.
It was an air show from the beginning as the senior Strand marched the Dragons downfield on their first possession. Senior receiver Brady Perryman hauled in a 13-yard pass in the corner of the end zone to cap an eight-play, 75-yard drive and MSUM had a 6-0 lead less than two minutes into the contest.
Strand then found redshirt freshman tight end Gavin Lill, who got loose from coverage, for a 55-yard TD to cap a three-play, 76-yard drive to go up 13-0.
Defensively, it was a show as well for MSUM as it held the Mustangs to minus-2 yards rushing.
