DANVILLE, W.Va. — A bridge worker fell from a bridge on U.S Route 119 near Danville Saturday morning.

A DOH spokesman said the worker, employed by DOH contractor Kokosing, fell approximately eight feet at around 8 a.m. The worker hit scaffolding below.

Local emergency crews were able to get the worker out of a tough to reach area. The highway was closed for a period of time.

Authorities said the worker was seriously injured. An investigation into the fall is underway.
