ARLINGTON -- Hunter Brown threw six scoreless innings, allowing four hits while striking out eight batters, and Christian Walker and Yordan Alvarez homered off Jacob deGrom to lead the Astros to an 11-0 win over the Rangers on Saturday night at Globe Life Field.
Brown threw a season-high 107 pitches, lowering his ERA to 2.25 in 167 2/3 innings this season. The Rangers threatened against him twice, loading the bases with one out in the second inning and putting the first two runners on in the fifth, but Brown posted his second scoreless outing in his last four starts.
Brown (11-7) reached 11 wins for the third consecutive season and has a 1.44 ERA in seven starts since the start of August. He’s 2 1/3 innings away from matching his career high of 170 innings set last year.
