HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — An elderly man was injured after firefighters say he was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street Saturday evening in Hartford.
At 7:30 p.m., the Hartford Fire Department arrived at the intersection of Albany Avenue and Chestnut Street, where they located a 79-year-old male lying in the roadway.
The pedestrian was assisted by witnesses and passing motorists, and police say his injuries are deemed non-life-threatening.
The involved vehicle, a dark colored Honda with a misused license plate, fled the scene before first responders could arrive.
Hartford police are leading the investigation.
