A disagreement over a stolen backpack erupted into an altercation involving several people Thursday night, according to a statement from Eastpointe police.

The incident occurred on Sept. 4 at approximately 7 p.m. when officers were dispatched to a large fight involving approximately 20 individuals near Toepfer Road and Beechwood Avenue.

According to police, several callers stated that individuals were yelling about “guns” and exchanging threats toward each other.

Upon officers’ arrival individuals started fleeing in different directions. Warren police officers arrived to assist.

Eastpointe authorities working with their K-9 and Warren officers were able to apprehend seven suspects including one adult and six juveniles.
