NEW MARKET, Ala. (WHNT) — The Madison County Sheriff's Office says one person is dead after a wreck involving one vehicle at Walker Lane and Hubert Road in New Market Saturday night.

MCSO told News 19 that deputies and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency responded to reports that a vehicle had hit a concrete power pole and was fully engulfed in flames.

MCSO said deputies were unable to approach the vehicle due to the fire, and the driver died inside.

The crash resulted in a power outage across portions of the New Market area.

ALEA is investigating the cause of the crash.
