OCALA, Fla. (WCJB) -Early this morning, Ocala had cyclists participating in the first-ever “Pedal for a Purpose” ride, an event dedicated to raising funds and educating the community about Alzheimer’s disease.
David Culbreth, the event chair, expressed his appreciation for the community’s involvement, “There are still good people out there. It’s been a magical experience, it truly is, to see how giving people are of their time to help all these seniors. It’s an incredible feeling.”
For many riders, participation was personal. Audrey Chandler, a participant whose grandmother passed away from Alzheimer’s in 2018, shared her experience, “My papa took care of her for three years. It was just awful to watch her go downhill.”
