DUNBAR, Pa. —

The Dunbar community gathered Saturday night to honor the life of 9-year-old Renesmay Eutsey with a candlelight vigil.

They made a memorial, showcasing her favorite things: the colors pink and purple, unicorns, mermaids, and baby dolls.

Renesmay was found dead on Thursday in the Youghiogheny River near Smithton. Renesmay was reported missing late Wednesday, and investigators believe she may have been dead for days before being discovered.

Her court-ordered custodian and live-in caretaker have both been charged with homicide and multiple other offenses in connection with her death.

“Her young life was stolen at the hands of the people who were supposed to protect her,” a neighbor said.
