A man who was shot by an officer in North Miami Beach after charging at them with a knife was identified on Sunday.

According to North Miami Police, the man who was shot was 21-year-old Roosevelt Joseph

Police said the incident happened on Saturday at the 600 block of 164th Street, after they received a call of a stabbing and found a man walking the street while carrying a knife.

When officers told Joseph to drop the knife, he refused and charged at them, resulting in one of them discharging their weapon, police said.

Joseph was taken to the a local hospital in stable condition.

No officers were injured.

Police have not released the charges he is facing.
