Chrysler has issued a safety recall for one of its most popular Jeep vehicles due to software issues with the vehicles’ hybrid system.
Around 91,780 hybrid vehicles are affected by the recall, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration .
Documents filed with the highway safety agency stated that the recall was caused by a software error within some hybrid control systems that could result in a loss of drive power, which can lead to a crash.
Affected vehicles include the 2022 through 2026 model years of Jeep’s plug-in hybrid electric Grand Cherokee.
Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by mail to alert them to the recall beginning in October.
A remedy for the software issue is currently still under development, according to recall documents.
