KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. (WATE) — Blue Line Tennessee, a nonprofit, gave a check to Knox County Deputy Matt Kirchner on Saturday, after he was injured in a serious crash.
Court records stated that, on July 27, Kirchner responded to a call about a fight in a parking lot when a Nissan Rouge traveling at high speeds struck his car. Emergency services took Kirchner to the University of Tennessee Medical Center. Blue Line Tennessee raised money to support Kirchner, including over $13,000 through GoFundMe.
"He is still going [to] need several more surgeries on his leg and then he will start rehab," Blue Line Tennessee wrote. "It will be some time before he will [be] back to patrolling the streets of Knox County."
