WASHOE COUNTY, Nev. (KOLO) - The Washoe County Animal Services is asking the public to only provide leads to authorities in a Sparks animal cruelty case that happened on Wednesday, Sept. 3, in the 800 block of Nichols Boulevard.

“Please leave the investigation to the authorities and do not harass those who might know him,” according to an updated Washoe County Regional Animal Services news release. “If you have information on his whereabouts, please contact animal services” at (775) 322-DOGS.

The incident involved a 13.5 pound black male long-haired Chihuahua/Spaniel mix named Prince. He is missing his right hind leg.

“We are hearing reports of people showing up at places it’s assumed he (the suspect) might be, and that is not helpful to the investigation,” according to a Washoe County,
