LITTLE ROCK, Ark — September 1 kicked off Meteorological Fall, so the summer heat waves will start to become a thing of the past.

This summer wasn't particularly rare or record-breaking, but we saw a nice mix of extreme heat and a few cool spells.

June

The summer season started on a nice note. June 3 saw the first time Little Rock recorded a high of 90 degrees; It was almost two weeks behind the average first 90-degree day (May 21).

Once we hit 90 for the first time, it still took us a few weeks to consistently stay in the 90s. The first few weeks of the month offered some variation, but we saw more of a "summer pattern" after the summer solstice on June 20.

July

July was pretty similar to June, concerning the above-average days vs average or below-average days.
