DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now) - A 70-year-old individual from Colorado is now safe after being rescued west of Contest Lake, in the area of Stuart River Portage.

According to the St. Louis County Sheriff’s office, a distress signal from the BWCA indicated the 70-year-old had a possible broken leg.

With help from the Morse Township Fire Department, the Minnesota State Patrol - MART, and Lifelink Helicopter service, the individual was transported to a Duluth hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
