HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - On this date in 1989, West Virginia Senate President, Larry Tucker, resigned from office.

He pleaded guilty in federal court to extorting $10,000 from an official at Tri-State Greyhound Park.

It was part of an effort for Tri-State and a dog track in Wheeling to keep a higher amount of the total bets by reducing payoffs to bettors.
