Yet another scam is making the rounds in the area with text messages, according to the Lyon County Sheriff's Office.

The Sheriff's Office says this scam involves a text that claims it is from the Kentucky DMV, and says one has a violation.

It has links that will supposedly take one to a pay screen, to clear the person of the accused violation.

They stress this is a scam, and so when the text is received, (and they say most everyone will), do not click any links, or reply to it. Simply delete it, designate it as junk, and it will disappear.

They say these texts are originating outside the United States, and there is nothing that can be done to stop them.

As always, be careful clicking links, replying to texts, or giving financial information when the sender is not personally known.
