BIRMINGHAM, Ala. —
A woman honored her husband’s legacy in a big way and did it through one of his favorite pastimes — smooth jazz music. Sunday marks the first time organizers are hosting the Magic City Smooth Jazz Legacy Series, and it honors a man named Bernard Lockhart.
Smooth jazz took center stage at Iron City with performances from local and world-renowned artists like Julian Vaughn in memory of a man many said lived for the love of music.
Lockhart died in December 2020 from complications of COVID-19, and his wife Jacqueline, said restrictions prevented her from being able to properly lay her husband to rest. Five years later, the event full of music and entertainment was the culmination of that — giving other people a chance to honor him as well.
