Former Greens leader Adam Bandt has been appointed as the next Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Conservation Foundation (ACF).

He will formally become CEO in January 2026 and will play no further role in the Australian Greens.

The long-serving politician, who lost his seat in Melbourne after a stunning 10 per cent swing against him, will succeed Kelly O’Shanassy as the foundation’s CEO.

“I'm Adam Bandt, and I'm excited that next year I'll be the new CEO of ACF, Australia's largest people-powered movement for nature and climate,” he said on social media.

“It's never been more important to make our voices heard. Nature is in crisis. People are sweltering through hot summers and worse bushfires.
