A woman has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries after an assault in Leeds.

West Yorkshire Police were called to an ongoing disturbance between a woman and a man in the street on Stanhope Drive, Horsforth , shortly after 1.45pm on Friday, September 5.

Officers arrived and found the woman had suffered injuries to her arm and hands after being assaulted. Her injuries were described as serious but not life-threatening.

The man, aged 44, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of S18 assault and has since been bailed pending further enquiries. Enquiries are ongoing by specialist officers from Leeds District Domestic Abuse Team.
